From its historic river district to its island beaches, renting in Wilmington, NC just might be exactly what you're looking for.  Flowing with a vibrant attitude and a warm energy, Wilmington’s city is concentrated in a walkable river district with an eclectic mix of culture in a progressive, yet historic setting. Wilmington’s coastline is filled with down-to-earth people, natural beauty and unlimited vacation choices. We put together a list of the top reasons why we love renting in Wilmington, NC.

Low-Cost of Living

A transplant from New York myself, I worked in the rental industry throughout the Brooklyn Manhattan area. Now a newbie to the south, I am amazed at how low the average monthly rent is in and around Downtown Wilmington in comparison. A three bedroom two bathroom for 1,100.00 per month WITH a back yard, central air, dishwasher, and washer & dryer?! The list goes on and on. Unheard of. Like NYC, as well as many other parts of the country, finding an apartment like that would come with living with about eight roommates (strangers, most likely) in an apartment the size of a car parking spot. Not when renting in Wilmington, NC.

No Broker's Fees

If you are at all familiar with renting in a big U.S. city, you know that searching for an apartment comes with having to pay an unreasonably high broker's fee. Rates typically range between a whopping three and six percent of the annual rent amount which can total up to thousands of dollars paid out-of-pocket before even moving in. Thankfully, the Wilmington, NC rentals market has steered clear of this pricey habit.

Culture, Culture, Culture

USA Today gets it. For three consecutive years, Wilmington, NC was voted as "Best American Riverfront City" by the national publication - and for good reason. Taking a strong Northern influence due to so many North Easterners moving south, you will find a unique mix in Wilmington's culture right on the majestic Cape Fear River. You can find a wide variety of foods from many different cultures, live music from downtown to the beachfront, and a vibrant arts and design community.

Entrepreneurs Welcomed

Voted in the Forbes 2016 Best Places for Business, Wilmington, NC has a wide variety of jobs available from every major industry to pharmaceutical companies such as PPD (headquartered in Downtown Wilmington). But the modern job market is changing from the typical 9-5 grind to a more tech-savvy, work-from-your-computer deal, and Wilmington, NC is responding to the call. Ever evolving, it's not uncommon to see innovative national and international start-ups popping up all over with their base right here in Wilmington.

Perfectly Placed

Wilmington, NC's geography is special and unique to this coastal town. All within in a short distance, one can travel from the mountains (Asheville, a personal favorite), to the beach, to swamp land and forests, and back again to the city. Also home to UNCW and Cape Fear Community College, Wilmington reaps the rewards of a bustling college town with all of its successful and nationally recognized athletics as well as its rich arts and culture community.
